Here are the books I'm reading (or plan to read in 2019)

  • Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg, Alan Eagle Trillion Dollar Coach

    More info @ amazon.com
It's not every day you get to read a book written by your former bosses. I reported to Jonathan Rosenberg for my first few years at Google and spent time with Eric Schmidt in the board room and have a deep admiration for their management styles. I also remember brushing elbows with the subject of this book, Bill Campbell as he roamed the halls of Google mentoring my co-workers. I'll update this item when I finish the book.

  • Kim Scott Radical Candor

    More info @ amazon.com
I highly recommend this book to anyone who manages people. I had the pleasure of working with Kim Scott at Google. I always appreciated her straightforward style so listening to this book on Audible was like having an 8-hour chat with a smart friend. Kim gets to the heart of what it means to avoid tough subjects and provides practical advice on how to address direct reports in a manner that will achieve results in a humane way.

Chris Voss is a former FBI hostage negotiator who has dealt with some tense situations and had advice for you on how to be a better negotiator. Recommended to me by Merci Grace.

I'm only a little way in but so far it's just as good as her other books but applied to management this time.

  • atomic habits

    More info @ amazon.com
Found this author through Justin Jackson's podcast, Product People. James Clear has crystalized the thinking behind some of the smallest forces driving our lives, our small, "atomic" habits. He coaches you through how to make small changes that end up giving you a better outlook on life, more time in your day and a framework for change.

  • Neal Stephenson Quicksilver: Book One of The Baroque Cycle

    More info @ amazon.com
I haven't read a Stephenson novel since Seveneve's a few years back but I'm looking forward to this. Might switch to reading the actual book instead of Audible because I think I've decided I don't do Fiction on audio.

Fun fact: I found out about this prominent TV writer years ago when I added him to Blogger's "Blogs of Note" back in 2002. Back then he was just a writer. Now he's been a writer for "Family Guy", "Dads", "The Grinder" and more.
