  • Slack

When you absolutely, positively have to talk to your coworkers

    More info @ slack.com
Our team lives on Slack. This is a must for any team. Disclaimer: I worked there and still have stock in Slack, but you know what... I still love it. Best way to keep your team in the loop.

  • Dropbox

Everything in a dropbox to the left

    More info @ dropbox.com
A bunch of years ago I started using Dropbox and now I can't imagine switching away. Especially now that I keep my code in a folder called Code that backs up and allows me to restore files even if I forgot to commit them to Github. Life saver.

  • Visual Studio Code

My favorite piece of software from Microsoft in years

    More info @ code.visualstudio.com
I'm as surprised as you are that my favorite code editor is made by Microsoft. It's not just kind of good it's *really* good. Extensible, robust, great Github integrations. Makes developers lives easier. A great sign of things to come, I hope.

  • GitHub Desktop

    I'm a visual guy, see

You might be a fancy pants developer who is great at all those git commands in the terminal but me... every once in a while I like to have a dead simple tool to see what's going on. This is that one.

  • Figma

Forget the rest and get the best

    More info @ figma.com
I used to design in Adobe Illustrator, then I learned Sketch and dabbled in other tools like InVision. However, my breath has been taken away by Figma. I love that it's cloud based so you never have a conflicted copy (there are whole startups dedicated to checking in and out designs in Sketch). You don't need any of that in Figma and you can even watch as collaborators update on the fly. Great looking sharable prototypes means you'll be visualizing the future sooner than you think. Get it.

  • Skitch

The best part of Evernote is this little app

    More info @ evernote.com
There are a lot of ways to take screenshots but Skitch is the best. A designer's best friend. Syncs in the background, plenty of annotation tools. Great little workhorse.
